“but what does doula support feel like?”

Our simplified answer, a pot pie…

Oh, you want the long version? It feels like the warmth of comforting connection, like a nutritious helping of answered questions, the perfect fullness of informed choice and the village you were promised.

“why hire support?”

The benefits of having a birth doula as a member of the birth team is well-documented and proven to have the following benefits:

  • 50% decrease in ceserean birth

  • 25% shorter labor

  • 40% less use of pitocin

  • 60% decrease in epidurals

  • decrease in forceps and vacuum delivery

  • increase in lactation rates and durations

  • increase in satisfaction surrounding the birth experience

  • decrease of postpartum depression and anxiety

Beyond all the statistics we could share with you about the value of having doula support at your birth, is the fact that having a doula’s support prenatally and during actual labor and delivery, shows up across the board as birthing people reporting much more positive childbirth experiences overall. They felt cared for, they felt heard. They were not alone and they felt more confident.

So it’s not just about the numbers. It’s about how you FEEL about what happens to you and your baby during such an intense and vulnerable time.

We get it. We got you. Let’s do this. Together.

“so when is the best time to hire support?”

There is no right or wrong time to hire your birth support team, but we believe that the benefits of doula support are so valuable, that you should consider hiring your doula the minute you take your first positive pregnancy test, that might be at week 5! Or you might have just heard about doula support in your third trimester, it’s not too late!
